Nestled in the cool hills of the Southern Highlands, surrounded by pristine ancient forests and rolling tea plantations, Mufindi is the perfect break from the dust and heat of a safari.

When to Visit

The highlands are accessible year round.  The ‘dry’ season is from May to November with heavy short rain from November to February followed by the long rains from February onwards.  Being at an altitude of 6oooft, the temperatures are cool in the early morning and evenings, and nightime frost is not unheard of in June/July.

Mufindi is home to the Foxes Community and Wildlife Trust and there is no better way to understand the results of responsible tourism than by visiting the many projects operating in this area.  More information can be found at

Getting there

Safari Air Link ( operate daily flights to the closest airstrip from Dar, Zanzibar, Mikumi, Selous or Ruaha and the lodge will pick guests up from there.
By road, the Lodge is 45km from Mafinga Town (on the main TanZam highway).  Turn south and follow the loop road until Sawala which is 15km from the Lodge – from here it is signposted as ‘Fox Farm’.
