Life on the Farm
The Fox Family have built all their camps and lodges with the environment and local community at heart.
Our lodge and log cabins are built by local people, out of local material.
We are very grateful to have had the help of our community, as they bring a wealth of knowledge when it comes to building techniques and local style. The wood for the log cabin was sourced from our own trees, and the stone for our lodge was mined by hand from the farm. Most furnishings and finishings of our rooms are supplied by the local villagers, who we are proud to support.
As we are a farm, it needn't be said that all your meals when staying with us will be sourced from our very own vegetable gardens and livestock.
Being mostly off the grid, we have embraced many local techniques to get by, including the use of Tanganyika boilers to heat our water. Every afternoon, your wood boiler will be lit, providing you hot water to freshen up before dinner. Due to the distance between the boiler and your cabin, the water may need to run a while before hot water comes through. Please note that the water may have cooled by the morning.
Tanzania does not treat their water, therefore we do not recommend drinking from the tap. Complimentary drinking water will be provided in your cabins.
